FAQs

What makes Entrystack Hackathon different from other hackathons?
Hackathons are usually team-based and short. Entrystack is a high-intensity solo challenge with only 12 spots in all of Canada. You’ll receive one singular prompt, have two full weeks to build, and then present your work in front of founders and innovators during a live finale in Waterloo. It’s built to test your skills, creativity, and ability to take an idea from zero to launch.
I'm a Canadian student, but not a SWE or CS major. Can I still sign up?
Any post-secondary student in Canada bold enough to tackle a hackathon solo can sign up. If you’re driven, resourceful, and ready to push your skills beyond the classroom, this is for you. There will be some aspect(s) of coding involved.
How long is the hackathon and where can I attend it from?
Two weeks of building, starting in early to mid October. After that, a Demo Day and Finale Day where winners are announced. The build phase is remote, but the finale is preferably in-person in Waterloo, with remote presentation options available. You will present your product pitch to a panel of judges and the audience.
Why is Entrystack a hackathon?
Real innovation happens in moments of solitude. This is your chance to:
  • Prove you can take an idea from zero to launch on your own.
  • Get noticed by people who can open doors.
